The District of Kitimat has extended its deadlines for residents to apply for the Backyard Hen Keeping Pilot Project.

Now, both households with existing hens and new households have until March 31 to submit their application.

It continues to be crucially important to register. Households that already have hens could face bylaw enforcement after April 1 as abeyance of this portion of the Kitimat Municipal Code will end.

Joining the pilot program will provide the District valuable information which can help guide future updates to the Code.
