With the Backyard Hen Keeping Pilot Project nearing completion, community feedback is being collected to help evaluate the success of the project and help inform next steps.

Council heard from the community the interest in considering backyard hen raising.

Staff presented a pilot project to Council to explore the feasibility of allowing backyard hens in single and two-family residential zones within the District. The project got underway in April 2024.

We are now over one year into the pilot project and looking for feedback from participants, neighbours, and the broader community. We are gathering community feedback to help determine the project’s success and inform any potential zoning or policy changes.
