Updated terms to the District of Kitimat's community grants and sponsorship program went into effect this month, which includes adding Kitamaat Village residents as eligible applicants for grants.

Here are the major changes to the program starting this year:

• The addition of Kitamaat Village residents as eligible applicants for grant funding
• Increasing the maximum grant amount to reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index
• The addition two new grant categories: Special Interest Workshops/Initiatives, and Environmental Workshops/Initiatives

The grants also includes travel grants for youth and adults to attend opportunities that may be difficult due to living in a remote area.
