The District of Kitimat is continuing its annual tradition with its annual Business Walk, happening on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

The walk has been held regularly since 2015 and provides valuable insight to where the District can work with partners to focus its economic development efforts and advocacy to other levels of government. The survey is organised jointly with the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce with support from volunteers for on-the-ground outreach. This year, the District is also partnering with yáqʷa Development Corporation to collect data on the business climate for Haisla business owners.

Business owners and managers are encouraged to take a few minutes with the volunteers on October 16 to fill out the Business Walk survey. The survey will also be available at getinvolved.kitimat.ca until November 8 if you were missed during the walk itself.

Other business incentive programs offered through the District of Kitimat are the Business Façade Improvement Program, and a Commercial Centre Revitalization Tax Exemption Program which can lower municipal property taxes if certain renovation work takes place on a property.

Business owners and entrepreneurs in Kitimat and Kitamaat Village are also encouraged to join the Entrepalooza event the following evening, on October 17, from 5 to 8:00 p.m..
