On November 17, Council received the Industrial Land Strategy Phase 2 report and approved the implementation plan.

The Industrial Land Strategy launched in 2023 with the intention to create a strategy that would help ensure Kitimat has the right amount of light industrial and serviced commercial lands to meet the community’s needs.

The completion of Phase 2 took into account the work analyzing industrial property inventory, assessing market supply and demand, reviewing infrastructure capabilities and more. From here, the implementation plan will move ahead with a number of short and long-term actions.

The actions include incentives for redevelopment of brownfield sites and tax exemption programs, a light-industrial focused Official Community Plan update and more.
