Notice of Development Variance Permit- 59 Currie Street

PURPOSE:

The applicant is proposing two variances from the requirements of the applicable R1-A zoning, including variances to fence height and location of accessory buildings and structures (see summary table below). The proposed variances would allow the applicant to construct a 16.4 square metre (176 square foot) greenhouse in an area of the subject property that is considered the “front yard” from a zoning perspective.

*As per the Planning definitions in Part 9, Division 1, Subdivision 1 of the Kitimat Municipal Code, when a lot is a corner lot on a curved street, the “front yard” for the purposes of regulating setbacks is the portion of the property in front of the dwelling as well as areas that may be to the side and/or rear of the dwelling along the street frontage.

This DVP application is available for review at by clicking here or the District of Kitimat Municipal Office, 270 City Centre, 8:30 am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. The application will be considered by Council on Monday, July 7, 2025, during the Regular Council Meeting at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers at 606 Mountainview Square.
