Notice of Public Hearing - Official Community Plan Amendment - Floodplain Management

6 November 2025

This notice is given in accordance with the Local Government Act, R.S.B.C., 2015 (and amendments thereto).

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the proposed Official Community Plan (OCP) Amendment Bylaw is to align the OCP with the proposed Floodplain Management Bylaw No. 2076, 2025 under consideration by Council. Since Council passed initial readings of Floodplain Management Bylaw No. 2076, 2025 at the Regular Meeting on October 6, 2025 and will be considering further readings on November 17, 2025, some minor amendments are required to the OCP in order for the OCP and Floodplain Management Bylaw to be consistent as required under Section 478(2) of the Local Government Act. The proposed OCP Amendment Bylaw includes a map amendment to Schedule C- Hazardous Area (Northern Area) and text amendments to Section 4.4 – Protect the Natural Environment, to update and remove where needed outdated and redundant floodplain information, policies and Development Permit Area guidelines.
