Council has been deliberating on the 2026 municipal budget, which has included conversations about which projects to prioritize for the year.

When Council looked at the budget again at the February 17 meeting, they made some choices for the projects that would move forward and others that would be held until next year’s budget process.

The construction of a spray park has been deferred to 2027’s budget process. This means that the project is on hold until Council looks at it in the 2027 budget and decides how to proceed at that point.

So long story short, there will not be construction of a spray park in 2026.

The spray park is not the only project that was moved to 2027’s deliberations. Other projects include the second phase of a walkway construction project from Kingfisher to Ptarmigan Street, and further design work for a construction of a new Public Safety Building.

The 2026 budget process is not yet fully concluded, and will be complete in the coming months.
